The Cincinnati Open was now down to the final match and we all were looking forward to see who would win the big title going forward. This was the moment all the fans were looking forward to and it was among some of the top players in the World. However this final match would also be the last ATP/WTA 1000 tournament just before the upcoming US Open which was going to be the biggest Grand Slam event in the World.

The WTA 1000 final match was being played between World number 3 Aryna Sabalenka and American veteran Jessica Pegula. Both these players have been finding some great for recently with Jessica winning the Canadian Open and Sabalenka getting a great start to her Hard court season. Seeing their performances in the tournament was enough to say that they were best players who had the chance of getting another title to their name just before the big event.

Sabalenka wins first title after injury

Though Jessica Pegula has been giving some great performances recently, we cannot ignore the fact that Sabalenka was the favorite to win the title and she showed it to everyone in the first set itself winning it by a margin of 6-3. This means the Belarusian was hust one set away from getting title in her grasp and win her first trophy after injury. The second set though showed signs of Pegula fighting back eventually turned out to be another set for Sabalenka as she wins her first ever Cincinnati Open title.

This was what was needed for Sabalenka who has won her first title after her long injury break and this will give her a lot of confidence going into the US Open. It has been a great tournament for the 2-time Grand Slam winner and she will definitely enjoy every moment of this straight win over one of the most experienced players in Jessica Pegula.
