The Frenchman didn't get a start to the game, with Zverev showcasing his form by hitting some outrageous and hitting points to take an early lead in the game. However, the 20-year-old star player was seen engaging in the long rallies alongside the 2025 Australian Open runner-up.

Fils kept his calm and resilience to control his pace in the third and deciding set, which allowed him to thwart the German out of the marquee event. The star player registered one of the biggest wins here as playing against the world number two, who has been in strong form, was a challenging task, and his epic comeback after losing the first set was surreal.

Arthur Fils reflected on his comeback against Alexander Zverev

The 20-year-old Frenchman was ecstatic and erupted in a jubilant celebration after storming to the quarterfinals of the ATP 1000 tournament. The star player has talked about his back issues and how they trouble him in the game. He further spoke about how he staged his comeback in the third set to thwart Zverev out of the showpiece event.

“I was feeling not great in the rallies. I’ve had a little problem in my back since I was young, so sometimes it hurts me a little bit. I had to find a rhythm, [be] more aggressive and come into the court to play my game and not let him play. In the third set, I thought it was over, at 1-3 and with him serving great," Fils said after the win.
