Tennis star players Sorana Cirstea and Anna Kalinskaya are the champions of the Mutua Madrid Open 2025 women's doubles. The Romanian and Russian stars won the doubles title on their debut as a team, having stitched the stand for the first time in the WTA tour. Cirstea and Kalinskaya have defeated Veronika Kudermetova and Elise Mertens to win their WTA 1000 title and bolstered the solid preparations for the French Open 2025, slated to take place the last week of May in Paris.

Notably, the top two tennis stars, Cirstea and Kalinskaya, didn't have a great start to their game and found themselves down a set and a break at 7-6. Despite trailing this much in the game, the two WTA stars found their way back and staged a stellar comeback on the court to win the match after 2 hours and 14 minutes of action.

This was the fourth WTA title for the Russian star and her first since 2022. On the other hand, Cirstea has won her sixth WTA title here, but it came after 2019. The two-star players will next be seen in action at the Italian Open, where they will be bolstering the preparations for the French Open 2025.

Cirstea and Kalinskaya's gratitude toward fans after Madrid Open win

Cirstea and Kalinskaya have sent a heartfelt message to fans after winning the Madrid Open 2025 title. The duo was spotted in a clip shared by the tournament's Instagram account, where they were showcasing gratitude towards their fans.

"It's a special day, the cheering was fantastic. It was a beautiful match, luck was slightly more on our side. I did not expect that we could play so well; we are very happy, and we enjoyed every minute. Sorana, it's incredible. I honestly wasn't expecting this either. Thank you for becoming my friend. I enjoyed every minute of the tournament," Anna Kalinskaya said after the win.

"I haven't been playing doubles recently, a win like this wasn't part of my plans. We said we'd play one or two matches, and look, Anna, the title is ours and today we won thanks to you. You played a great game," Sorana Cirstea said.
