Tennis star Andrey Rublev has stormed into the pre-quarterfinals of the Monte Carlo Masters 1000 tournament. The Russian stalwart has defeated legendary player Gael Monfils in the second round of the prestigious tournament with a scoreline of 6-4, 7-6 (2) to storm into the third round. The star player seems a strong contender to win a title, having already lifted the Qatar Open 2025 earlier this year.

However, Rublev is set to face a daunting task in the next round. The 27-year-old tennis star is set to face Arthur Fils in the round of 16 as the two ATP stars aim to steal the quarter-final berth. This win seems to be Rublev's biggest win, as beating a player like Gael Monfils is not everyone's cup of tea.

The star player had a great start to the game. The Russian-born star was seen smacking breathtaking shots and stitching long rallies with the 38-year-old legend to take an easy lead in the game. The two ATP stars forced the game into the tiebreaker in the second set, with the 27-year-old star player ultimately thwarting the Frenchman out of the ATP 1000 tournament.

Andrey Rublev credited his coach for his better game plan!

Just a day ago, Andrey Rublev talked about how his coach, Marat Safin, had played a crucial role in taking his game to the epitome of the level. The 27-year-old star player has credited his coach, who has guided him to become a formidable tennis star.

“First of all, Marat is someone that was inspiring me since I was a kid. Then obviously he has known me since I was a kid and I have known him since I was a kid, and later on I started to get to know him more. He had his own struggles that he went through and I was always afraid to ask [about] those things, but inside I always wanted [to]. And in the end, when I found out that he was also ready and he was looking maybe to work in tennis, it was like, ‘Okay, I have to at least [try],” Rublev said.
