Teenage sensation Eala Alexandra has stormed into the Miami Open 2025 semi-finals after thwarting five-time Grand Slam winner Iga Swiatek with a scoreline of 6-2, 7-5. The star player became the first player from her nation to storm into the WTA 1000 semi-finals and etched her name in the history books.

Alexandra had a great start to the game, as she was seen playing fantastically against the Polish star. The 19-year-old star player hit a stunning shot and outrageous hit that baffled the world number two. Surprisingly, Eala failed to get a fine start in the second set but staged a comeback from a 4-2 deficit to mark a straight-set win over Iga Swiatek.

After the thrilling win over Iga Swiatek, Alexandra Eala was totally in disbelief. The 19-year-old star player was seen extremely frozen on the court with teary eyes. She was full of emotions when she shared a warm embrace with Iga Swiatek and the chair umpire. After that, she went to wave towards fans with teary eyes, which showcased how much hard work she put in to reach here and defeat players like Iga Swiatek.

It's worth mentioning that the Philippines-born star has defeated three Grand Slam winners back-to-back. Eala defeated 2017 French Open winner Jelena Ostapenko in the second round and 2025 Australian Open winner Madison Keys in the third round. However, Paula Badosa's withdrawal due to injury has allowed her to seal the quarter spot. The tennis wildcard entrant has defeated the five-time Grand Slam winner.

"I don't know what to say, I mean, complete disbelief right now, and I am on cloud nine. It's forever in my heart. It’s surreal. I feel like I’m the exact same person I was in that photo. I’m so happy and blessed to be able to compete with such a player on this stage,” Eala said in the on-court interview.
