Tennis sensation Jessica Pegula has made it to the Miami Open 2025 semi-finals after defeating star player Emma Raducanu with a scoreline of 6-4, 6-7(3), and 6-2 at the Hard Rock Stadium on March 26, Wednesday. The duo has battled for over two hours in what we can call an incredible high-stakes affair, with 78 winners struck between two WTA stars, with just 45 unforced errors in the game.

The 31-year-old tennis star becomes just the third woman since 2020 to make it to the WTA 1000 semi-finals, with the other two players being the likes of Aryna Sabalenka and Iga Swiatek. Pegula also staged her comeback to the semi-finals of the Miami Open for the third time in four years.
“It’s my third semi-final, so I’m hoping third time lucky. I really want to get to that final so bad. I just wanted to come out in the third set really strong, really quick, didn’t want to keep that third set too close,” she declared on-court, with the clock showing close to midnight.
During the game, Emma Raducanu was visibly distressed by the extreme humidity on the hard courts in Florida. This environment forced the medical team to step up when the British star took the medical time-out during the challenging second set of the game. Raducanu was seen with medical staff who were checking her vitals, including her blood pressure and pulse rate.

Possibly the humidity bothering her.
She was playing incredible tennis & was up 5-2 against Pegula in the 2nd set. Now 5-4…
Hopefully it’s not too serious. ❤️🩹 pic.twitter.com/ifGTAlqVLM
Notably, the medical team was seen applying ice bags to her legs and keeping a towel to her neck area after she took the medical time-out in this game. After the medical time-out, the Brit star was seen in magnificent form, with the two WTA players taking the second set to a tiebreaker, with Raducanu ultimately emerging as a winner to level up a thriller. However, she failed to keep her winning momentum in the third and deciding set and suffered an exit from the Miami Open 2025.
