Teenage sensation Alexandra Eala has continued her magnificent run in the Miami Open 2025 after advancing to the semi-finals of the prestigious tournament. The tennis star has pulled off her biggest career win after toppling world number two Iga Swiatek with a scoreline of 6-2, 7-5 in the last eight rounds on March 26, Wednesday.
Eala's stellar win over three Grand Slam champions
Notably, the Philippines-born star has defeated three Grand Slam winners back-to-back. Eala defeated 2017 French Open winner Jelena Ostapenko in the second round and 2025 Australian Open winner Madison Keys in the third round. However, Paula Badosa's withdrawal due to injury has allowed her to seal the quarter spot. The tennis wildcard entrant has defeated the five-time Grand Slam winner Iga Świątek.

The star player now became the first player from her nation to make it to the semi-finals of a WTA 1000 event. Eala was over the moon after defeating the Polish star, who was one of the title favorites here.
Coming to the match dynamics, the 23-year-old struggled to hold the serve in the opening set, while the 19-year-old played with confidence to take an early lead in the game. However, Eala had staged her comeback from a 4-2 deficit in the second set to seal the straight-sets win.
"I don't know what to say, I mean, complete just disbelief right now, and I am on cloud nine. It's forever in my heart. It’s surreal. I feel like I’m the exact same person I was in that photo. I’m so happy and blessed to be able to compete with such a player on this stage,” Eala said in the on-court interview.
The fans were ecstatic after witnessing such a highly anticipated and tense clash, with Eala giving a tough fight to the five-time Grand Slam winner.
