Tennis star and world number two Alexander Zverev thwarted Tommy Paul in the quarterfinal of the 2025 Australian Open at the Rod Laver Arena of Melbourne Park on January 21. The star player will be hoping to continue his great form heading to the semi-final thriller of the showpiece event.

The Germany-born star is now set to face the winner of the quarter-final clash between Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic in the semi-final of the first Grand Slam of the year. The 27-year-old shared his candid thoughts on the highly anticipated clash, showcasing his touch of humour after his quarterfinal win.

Notably, Zverev now awaits the winner of the Alcaraz vs. Djokovic clash. During the post-match interview after his quarterfinal win over Tommy Paul, Zverev was questioned about his thoughts on the next quarterfinal clash. Zverev jokingly said that the Alcaraz vs. Djokovic game was boring and told fans to not stay there after witnessing the stellar Zverev-Paul game.

However, the Hamburg-born star later added his honest verdict and said that it would be one of the best matches ever, as Novak is the greatest of all time while Carlos is showcasing his great form at such a young age. Zverev feels privileged to witness the two-star players' match in Australia.


 
"Absolutely boring matchup... No reason to stay here after you just witnessed Zverev-Paul. No, I mean, two of the best players that probably ever touched a tennis racket. Novak is the greatest of all time right now. Carlos is going to be one of them when he hangs it up. So it's a clash of generations. They have played Grand Slam finals before. They played the Olympic finals last year, so it's a privilege to witness it here in Australia. So please guys do enjoy it, and I think it's going to be a great match," Zverev said after the win.
