Tennis star and world number two Alexander Zverev thwarted Tommy Paul by 7-6, 7-6, 2-6, 6-1 in the quarterfinal of the 2025 Australian Open at the Rod Laver Arena of Melbourne Park on January 21. The Germany star has made it to the semifinals of the first Grand Slam of the year and is now just two wins away from clinching the title here.

The 27-year-old tennis star showcased his stellar form and hit some stunning passing shots in the game against Paul, which baffled him completely. The star player will be hoping to continue his great form heading to the next round of the showpiece event.

Zverev had a stellar start to the game as he showcased a great fight in the first two sets. However, Paul staged his comeback in the third set and avoided his straight-set win. Following the same, Zverev kept his poise and resilience and delivered a great performance to mark the win in the fourth set of the game to storm into the semi-finals.

Earlier, Alexander Zverev defeated Ugo Humbert by 6-1, 2-6, 6-3, and 6-2 in the fourth round of the marquee event before outclassing Tommy Paul.

Meanwhile, the star player has been in great form since 2024. Zverev was the runner-up of the 2024 French Open after suffering defeat against Carlos Alcaraz. He also made it to the final of the US Open in 2020. The Hamburg-born star has made it to the semifinals of the Australian Open in 2020 and 2024 but failed to make it to the final. He will be looking to win the semi-final to make his first final appearance in Australian Open history.
