Tennis sensation Venus Williams is currently making audacious headlines at the French Open 2025 and will be there for the entire two weeks. Surprisingly, she has been in the news for so many days, not for her performance, but for her debut as a commentator and analyst, this time at the Roland Garros. The legendary player has talked about her broadcasting duties in Paris.
After making her debut, the American stalwart talked about a particular fear she has been facing in her new role. She revealed that she might cancel her role by saying something crazy during her broadcasting role. On the other hand, Venus Williams calls her job an interesting one.
The seven-time Grand Slam winner stated how her broadcasting role is different from the players who give their interviews. She stated that the player always thinks about the next match and never about giving interviews on the court.
"Listen, I'm really nervous. Am I going to cancel myself by saying something crazy? Everybody's like, 'be yourself.' I'm trying, but it's interesting to be on this side, right? Because when you come as a player, your mind is already on the next match, you're not even thinking about this interview. You kind of get through it, but as a broadcaster/journalist, you want to do your best. Hopefully people watch and hopefully fans get some sort of insight into what it's like to be a player, what it's like to be out there," she said.
When was Venus Williams last seen in action?
Meanwhile, Williams is set to announce her retirement from the game. However, her appearance on the courts has been limited for the last few months. The tennis player was last seen in action at the Miami Open 2024 in Florida. She suffered a first-round exit to Diana Shnaider in the opening round and wasn't ever seen playing on the WTA tour after that.
