'To play against Iga Swiatek is much harder because...'- Former World number one Karolina Pliskova on comparing Iga Swiatek with Serena Williams and Maria Sharapova

Women's tennis has come a long way and this time we are seeing some great competition among the players. There have been some talented individuals in the WTA who everyone has been looking forward to seeing perform in the big ATP events and the Grand Slams. This has been a season where Women's tennis has been competitive and we all have been impressed by the performances.

The one player who has been the most dominant this season so far is Iga Swiatek who is the current World number one and has been playing some great tennis recently. The 22-year-old Polish Superstar has been one of the best players of this season with 5 WTA, and Roland Garros Grand Slam title and an Olympic medal. It is safe to say that she has proven herself as the best in the business and will be looking to keep performing consistently, especially in the upcoming US Open main draw matches.

Pliskova makes a bold comparison

The brilliant performances from Swiatek have led to plenty of players comparing her to some players. After all at the age of 22 the Polish player has won 5 Grand Slam titles and has been leading the charts so far. One of the biggest comparisons was however made by former World number one Karolina Pliskova where she compared Swiatek to one of the biggest legends in the game Serena Williams and Maria Sharapova saying " To play against Iga Swiatek is much harder because she doesn’t give you anything. With Serena, in the end, her game was much more aggressive like Sharapova who I played. But they would at least give you light points or make some mistakes."

This was a bold comparison by the 32-year-old 2-time Grand Slam finalist where she even supports her statement stating further "I feel like Iga Swiatek is not so aggressive but she really gives you nothing and she doesn’t even have one dip where she would have like one bad game, at least in the matches where I played her." Though there will be a lot of people who will have opinions on this statement the fact that Swiatek is already being compared with the legends shows how much impact she has made on the game.
