The world's Number 3 Carlos Alcaraz lashed at ITIA for scheduling the tennis calendar so hard for the Players. The Spaniard is currently playing the Laver Cup match for Team Europe. He spoke about the tough tennis schedule after beating Team Worlds Ben Shelton. He won the Match 6-4, 6-4 straight sets over the American and gave the underperforming Team Europe something to cherish.
Carlos not happy with the Scheduling
After the game, he hit out at the tennis schedule. He said the sports governing body is going to kill them because of the high physical demands. He said “Probably during the next few years it's going to be even more mandatory tournaments. Probably they are going to kill us in some way. Right now there are a lot of injured players, because of the balls, Because of the calendar, and a lot of things. Probably at some point, a lot of players are going to miss a lot of tournaments because of that.”
England's Jack Draper also called the schedule “Mental” after heading from the US Open to play Davis Cup in Manchester for Great Britain. Tennis Players undergo a lot of injuries during play and tough scheduling will make it worse for them. World No. 1 Iga Swiatek also withdrew from the China Open due to injury.
The Laver Cup happening from 20 Sep to 22 Sep is played between Team Europe and Team World. The Spaniard is playing for Team Europe as he took his racket against America’s Ben Shelton. Although he won the match against the American, Team World Leads the tournament with an 8-4 lead. Starting the day both teams were in level points but the American Frances Tiafoe defeated Danii Medvedev 3-6, 6-4 (10/5), and gave Team World the lead. Alcaraz fought back by defeating Ben Shelton in straight sets.
Again Team World took the lead as Talyor Fritz defeated Alexander Zverev 6-4, 7-5, and then Shelton/Alejandro duo took a comfortable victory over Rudd/Tsitsipas with 6-1, 6-2 in doubles. Team World is all set to lift the Laver Cup for the Third consecutive time this year. Team World Captain McEnroe is also very confident that his players will retain the cup this year.
