Serbian Tennis legend Novak Djokovic is the only player from the old era still playing the game. His close friends Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal have already announced their retirements from tennis. Novak is having a disappointing season in 2024 having won only the Olympic Gold medal match against Carlos Alcaraz.

He missed out on Grand Slams and ATP finals and many fans are already talking about Novak Djokovic’s Retirement. But the Legend himself didn't open up anything about retiring from the game. Djokovic will at least play the 2025 ATP season.

Novak Djokovic's huge announcement

The Davis Cup tournament will start soon and the Serbian tennis team Davis Cup captain Viktor Troicki dropped a huge bomb about Novak Djokovic’s retirement plans. The Serbian captain met with the tennis legend a few days ago and gave an update about him playing in the tournament.

He said "I briefly saw Novak a few days ago and I was delighted to hear that he is ready to start the new season at 100%. I also heard that the addition of a great coach to his team may be in the works, a legendary name, but these are just rumours.”

In the 2024 Australian Open semi-finals Djokovic played against Jannik Sinner and the Serbian lost the match. Then he lost to Luca Nardi in the third round of the Indian Wells Masters and again in the semi-finals of the Monte Carlo Masters to Casper Rudd.

He withdrew from the French Open after reaching the quarter-finals due to an injury. He lost the Wimbledon finals against Carlos Alcaraz and in the US Open third round, he lost to Alezei Popyrin. But in a recent interview, Carlos Alcaraz spoke about Novak Djokovic and expects the Serbian to make a massive comeback next year after recovering from all his injuries.

He said “A really dangerous player. We've seen before that it doesn't matter if he doesn't play an official match for two, three, four months because he’s going to come again and be able to win the tournament, be able to show a really high level of tennis.”
