'I didn't say this would...'- Novak Djokovic speaks about his future in Davis Cup for Serbia

Novak Djokovic opens up on his future with the Serbian team in the Davis Cup after ensuring qualification after a win against Greece. Is he close to retirement?

The era of some legends have come to an end in 2020s whether it is the Swiss Maestro Roger Federer or the British superstar Andy Murray, but there are still some legendary figures in the game who are still active this season and one of them is the Serbian great Novak Djokovic himself. Even at the age of 37, the 24-time Grand Slam winner is still one of the biggest stars in the game.

This might have not been the best of seasons for Novak Djokovic despite his iconic Gold medal win in the Paris Olympics. Not only has the Djokernole fallen in the rankings going from being World number 1 to World number 4, but he has also gone titleless as well. The US Open saw one of his most disappointing performances as well. However the Serbian legend has still got his team through in the Davis Cup and will look to make the most of it going forward.

Djokovic on his future with the Serbian side

The Davis Cup saw the Serbians ensure their qualification after beating Greece by a score of 3-1. Djokovic played a major role in this match where he won both his singles and doubles game to make sure his team would go through. This was also a great moment for Djokovic who was playing this game in his homeground as well and there were cheers all around after this game. However after the match Djokovic spoke on the future with the Serbian team in this international competeition saying " I didn't say this would be my last Davis Cup participation, but it is likely the last time I will play this event in Serbia."

In the past Djokovic has made it clear that he has hopes of playing the Olympics in 2028 and loves reperesenting his country and to see how emotional he was after winning at home. We still do not have any clarification on when he will hang up his racquet, but to hear this statement makes us believe that his time for participating in the Davis Cup might come to an end.
