Stefanos Tsitsipas's 'Harmful' on-court relationship with his Father

Stefanos Tsitsipas, physiotherapist, reveals Stefanos's relationship with his father as a 'Harmful' one. The father-son duo eventually parted ways last month.

Stefanos Tsitsipas  terminated his coaching partnership with his father last month, with physiotherapist Jerome Bianchi criticizing their methods as 'harmful'. The decision came after tensions escalated at the Canadian Open following the Greek's loss to Kei Nishikori , and Tsitsipas clashed with his father and ultimately decided to end their partnership abruptly.

Father-Son Duo's 'Harmful' On-Court Relationship 

Physiotherapist Bianchi discussed in an interview with L'Equipe that there were challenges in the relationship between Stefanos and his father for many years, and their interactions were not conducive to a healthy dynamic.

Bianchi also mentioned how Stefano's mother attempted to mediate between the two whenever they were at odds, reminding Stefanos of his father's commitment to him and urging him not to give up on their relationship. Additionally, Bianchi shared that Stefanos may feel that he has not fully realized his potential and did not achieve the success he was capable of in his career.

"You couldn't do this to your him, he dedicated life to you" - Stefanos's mother said on multiple occasions

Father - Son Duo Parted Ways 

Stefanos disclosed the end of the road for his father as a coach, this past month.

“It is with a heavy heart that I inform you that my collaboration with my father as a coach has come to an end. I prefer to keep my father in his role as a father, and only as a father," - Stefanos wrote

Stefanos thanked and expressed his gratitude to his father for all the sacrifices, pain and suffering he ensured in their journey.

Stefanos revealed that his father will play the role of only 'father' and not a coach. He disclosed that the duo would travel together and interact off the court. 

Stefanos added -

“From now on, his role will remain within the confines of the father role, and that alone. My father will continue to travel with me and be there to support me and provide assistance off the field, as I have always wanted.

“I have trusted my father with the coaching role for so many years, and I consider our partnership to be successful.”
