This has been a clay season which has already been full of surprises so far and we have seen some great comebacks this season. The one comeback which we didn’t expect to see was Stefanos Tstsipas who went on to win his third Monte Carlo title and move up to the top 10 once again. This was a blessing in disguise for the 25-year-old Greek who has not been having the best couple of seasons before this.
Stefanos Tstsipas now has his eyes set on the ongoing Barcelona Open and will be going in with confidence after Monte Carlo. He is set to face off against Austrian Sebastian Ofner tomorrow in the tournament. Seeing him back in form and beating top ranked players and back to winning titles is something we have been waiting to see. Tsitsipas is also one of the best players on clay as well right now and he will be making a mark in this tournament.
Tsitsipas need to break Barcelona jinx
Even though Tsitsipas has had a great record on clay, the Barcelona Open is the ATP tournament that has eluded him for a long time. Tsitsipas has made it to 3 Barcelona Open finals and has lost all three of them so far. A Barcelona victory can assure him another great point and be a great start to his season. This will not be easy considering the amount of talented players that will feature in the tournament, but we surely can’t leave him out as one of the favourites going forward.
We all know that Tsitsipas is one of the most talented players who is capable of playing the whole court to his advantage. This will be another test for the 2-time grand slam finalist. There will be some great competition in the tournament with Casper Ruud who will look to avenge his Monte Carlo final loss and with Rafael Nadal in the race who was responsible for two of his Barcelona Open final losses. This is still the opportunity for him to finally break the jinx.
