Stefanos Tsitsipas beats Casper Ruud in two straight sets to win third Monte Carlo title

Stefanos Tsitsipas wins his third Monte Carlo title after defeating Casper Ruud in two straight sets. A great start to the clay season for the 25-year-old Greek which will move him up the rankings.

Today was the day for the Monte Carlo final where the wait for the champion is almost over. This is the game where both the players have gone onto win the big games in the semi finals. This is the moment where the players would show their dominance  in the current clay season. The two players are just one win away from achieving Monte Carlo glory.

The game was between two time champion Stefanos Tsitsipas and Norwegian Superstar Casper Ruud. While Tsitsipas is not only playing for his third Monte Carlo title, but also looking to get on top in the world rankings. The Greek might be the favourite to win this tournament, but what we have learnt throughout this tournament that upsets can come from anywhere. Tsitsipas came into this finals after beating number 2 ranked Jannick Sinner and Ruud managed to finally break the jinx and beat world number 1 Novak Djokovic. Overall it was set to be a great final to witness.

Tsitsipas wins number 3

The game started in favour of the Greek who had completely thrashed Casper Ruud in the first set. This was a set that was difficult for Ruud to comeback from where he suffered a 6-1 loss. This is where Tsitsipas was on track to win his third and it was a do or die moment for Ruud. The second set saw Ruud give a great fight but it was Tsitsipas who won the last set and the Monte Carlo Masters title. This was the best moment for Tsitsipas in this clay season where he went through the whole competition.

This makes sure Tsitsipas has a 100% win rate in the Monte Carlo finals as he wins the tournament for the third time. This brings a wonderful tournament to an end which was full of twists and turns. It was the day of the talented Greek who went through the competition and made sure he is the one to take the title home. This could be the moment Tsitsipas can start his dominance in the current clay season and move up the ladder in the ATP rankings.
