The star player has already announced her retirement in February 2023, but she still aims to inspire young girls to take this sport to reach the pinnacle of the sport. The star player has won six Grand Slam titles in doubles and mixed doubles. This achievement not only showcases her milestone but also inspires millions of people from countries like India to take this spot and open the doors for many youngsters.

It's worth noting that the major reason why she took up this sport was that her parents had supported her immensely and allowed her to opt for tennis over her studies.

After Sania Mirza, who is the next player?

However, as we all know, this legendary player has already announced their retirement back in February 2023, and the limelight now heads to the next generation. Who is next after her?

The tennis fraternity has witnessed a promising name with the likes of Ankita Raina and Kamran Kaur Thandi, as the duo has been performing well in singles and doubles and showcasing a lot of potential. However, we will agree that Indian women's tennis still lacks a star who can place herself in the WTA 100 rankings.

One of the major factors is that this sport requires mental and physical training. Competing in the Grand Slam requires a strong mindset, focus, and determination, which is not easy when it comes to other players except Mirza.

Mirza, who has been talking about the lack of a tennis system in India, has agreed that there are still a lot of talented players. “Every time we see a glimmer of hope, they either go to college, and after college, they never come back to compete, or they’re just not able to make that next jump,” Mirza said.

Mirza has always dreamed big and chased down her dreams with stubbornness. Nothing was allowed to come in her way while chasing her dreams. She wasn't even afraid of playing in short skirts in front of a big crowd. The Hyderabad girl lived on her terms and spoke up and spoke out when it seemed necessary.

The 38-year-old legend has always encouraged her fellow players to stand up for their rights. “Back yourself and believe in yourself. If you are not your biggest cheerleader, nobody else will believe in you. No matter how many odds you face, even if nobody’s done it before, whatever path you choose, believe that you can do it. I think it’s very, very important to have that belief in yourself.”
