We are going to learn about the life of the 44-year-old doubles legend who came into the sport as 23-year-old struggling singles player to becoming a reknowned figure in Indian Tennis.

The career of Rohan Bopanna has been a bit of a roller coaster and though he never ammounted to much as a singles player he still went on to become a great player in doubles and achieve some great things in the game. Bopanna has a record of 504- 367 in doubles and 55-42 in mixed doubles and even went on to become a World number 1 at the age of 44, which makes him one of the legendary figures in the sport as well.

Who is Rohan Bopanna?

Rohan Bopanna started his life from humble beginnings being the son of a Coffee planter in the city of Bengaluru, Karntaka and was born on 4th March 1980. However this did not stop him from pursuing the sport of tennis starting from the age of 11. He turned pro in 2003 at the age of 23 and though there were some promising games we saw in his singles career we couldn't see him gain a lot of success due to some underwhelming performances and injuries. However, the shift to doubles managed to be a career changing move for him.

What are Rohan Bopanna's career achievements?

The shift to doubles has made Bopanna the legend he is today and is among the most successful tennis players where he has gone on to win some big titles. Bopanna has gone on to win 6 ATP Masters 1000 titles and also won 2 Grand Slam titles which include the Australian Open in 2024 with Matthew Ebden and the mixed doubles title at the Roland Garros in 2017 with Gabriela Dabrowski. He went on to win 27 ATP titles overall and also became the oldest player to become a World number 1 at the age of 43. Apart from this Bopanna has also represented his nation as well winning the 2 Gold medals in the Asian games in 2018 and 2022. Both Supriya and Bopanna have been married for 12 years and also gave birth to their beautifull daughter Tridha Bopanna in 2019 who is currently 5-years-old.
