The Clay season finale is in full flow and we all have already witnessed some thrilling matches in the Roland Garros this season. The number of stars and talented players performing has made this tournament one of the most iconic Grand Slam tournaments already. It is time to look into some of these iconic matches that everyone is looking forward to watching in the upcoming 5th day of the French Open.

The match we will now be talking about is between World Number 1 Novak Djokovic who will be taking on the unseeded Spanish journeyman in Roberto Carbaellas Baena. This is once again a matchup that might not look so promising on paper, but the 31-year-old Spanish does have some decent numbers on Clay. Djokovic will once again be a favorite in this encounter and will have some confidence knowing he has come back from a straight win over PH Hubert whereas Baena on the other hand had to fight hard to get his first-round victory.

Djokovic defense vs Baena's redemption

You might think that there is not much story behind this match, but if we look carefully, it has not been a promising season for Djokovic this season, as he is currently going through a title drought this season, this is not only his chance of winning another grand Slam but also defend his French Open title as well. On the other Baena has yet to win a game against Djokovic in his entire ATP career. Djokovic has beaten the Spaniard in the two encounters once in the 2019 US Open and the second time in the Australian Open last year. This will be his chance for redemption and take advantage of an out-of-form Djokovic.

Overall this is once again an easy draw on paper for the 24-time Grand Slam champion, but in a major tournament like this, you cannot take things for granted at all. This has already been a tournament full of surprises and right now the Serbian Powerhouse will be wanting another comfortable win going into the match and make sure he defends his Roland Garros title.
