Day 2 of the Roland Garros is finally complete and once again we have witnessed some great matches in the ongoing first round of the tournament.  This was once again a day filled with plenty of surprises that we could never have expected in the long run at all. There have been a lot of great matches which we have seen in the day featuring some of the best players in the world. All we can say it has been another major Grand slam-worthy day for everyone.

We will be looking into some of the most iconic matches of the day that have surprised us with some wonderful performances and matches that have left us feeling disappointed. Some great players were involved on day 2 with the likes of Rafael Nadal, Iga Swiatek, and Coco Gauf who are just a few of the great players we witnessed today.

We will now be looking into the matches that have given us a glimpse of how this day has gone and what could come next in the future:

1. Best performance of the day- Alexander Zverev against Rafael Nadal

Though we had seen some great performances from some great players today, we couldn't ignore Alexander Zverev who gave a great performance against one of the legends on clay. Though it was not Nadal at his peak, it is still not easy to get the better of King Rafael Nadal, especially on clay. Zverev also came back in a tiebreaker in one of the sets and continued his dominance throughout the game. This was a rare straight-set victory against the King Of Clay.

2. The Great Escape- Sebastian Baez against Gustavo Heide

Sebastian Baez is still early into his professional career, but being a top 20 player now he is currently one of the seeded players who has enough potential and experience to get through round 1 at least. Gustavo Heide was inexperienced and unseeded which should have been an easy win for Baez. However, Heide already surprised the Argentine by winning the first set. Even after Baez came back in the next two sets with scores 6-3 and 6-1, Heide had another surprise up his sleeve and came back in the fourth winning 6 games to 4. The Argentine will be relieved that he managed to win the last set and get through to the next round with Heide giving him a tough fight.

3. Disappointment of the day- Maria Sakkari against Varvara Gracheva

On a day where we saw the top players give their best performance, this was one of the most shocking results of the day as we saw Maria Sakkari lose to Varvara Gracheva in a first-round game. This was a game that Sakkari should have won easily and it was embarrassing to see her throw away the game after having a great first set. The second and third set saw one of the poorest games of tennis from a top 10 ranked player in a grand slam tournament. It is sad to see that the talented Greek will go out of this game in this fashion.

Overall this has been another great day of tennis to look forward to where we have seen some great performances and a few shockers in the tournament already. There are still a lot of days left in the tournament and we hope to some more exciting games and results going forward.
