Rohan Bopanna of India and his Australian partner Matthew Ebden dominated their first-round match at the US Open men's doubles competition, defeating Sander Arends and Robin Haase of the Netherlands with a convincing score of 6-3, 7-5 in just 64 minutes and hence progressing to the second round at the Flushing Meadows.
Despite facing initial challenges with their serves, the duo swiftly regained their composure, breaking their opponent's serve twice and securing a well-deserved victory. This win marks their advancement to the second round after overcoming three previous losses, demonstrating their resilience and determination.
They encountered a similar difficulty in the second set, behind but rallying to tie the match at 5-5. To seal the victory, they then broke their opponents' serve once again.
The reigning Australian Open winners and second seeds will face Argentine Federico Coria and Spaniard Roberto Carbellas Baena who are unseeded in the second round.

The Tale of First Round
The match started with both teams holding their serves, but soon Bopanna and Ebden began to showcase their dominance. Despite being broken in the third game, the Indo-Australian duo swiftly turned things around, taking control of the momentum. They secured four consecutive games, including two crucial breakpoints, to win the first set. Although the Dutch pair managed to win one game towards the end, the set ended comfortably in favour.
In the second set, Arends and Haase came back with renewed intensity. They dominated with strong serves and aggressive play, breaking Bopanna and Ebden early to take a commanding 4-1 lead, putting the second seeds on the back foot.
As the match approached its conclusion, the Indian-Australian team elevated their game, securing a decisive break point and holding their serve to win the set 7-5. This victory marked their first win after three consecutive losses, instilling much-needed confidence as they progress further in the tournament.
