'I can't believe she is finished already'- fans react as Elena Rybakina officially withdraws from US Open ahead of second round match

The US Open was one of the most hyped tournaments this season and we all were happy to see that all the top players are featuring in this tournament. Especially this was also the time where we had all the top 4 players featuring in a tournament in the ATP and the WTA scene and all the fans were looking forward to seeing all of them perform.

One of the players we were eager to see in the Grand Slam event was the Kazakhstani star Elena Rybakina who is also the World number 4. The fans were happy to see her back since she had taken a long break from the game after Wimbledon and we all were looking forward to see her make her comeback after suffering from injury and fitness issues. She also started the Grand Slam event well with a straight win in round 1 against Destanee Aiava as well. Everyone was hoping for a Grand Slam comeback for her.

Rybakina withdraws ahead of second round game

We all were excited to see Rybakina back in a tournament like the US Open especially among her biggest rivals in the game . Unfortunately it seems like she was only there for the first round itself as she has officially withdrawn from the competition. This is another major setback which has caused a lot of drama on social media and it is evident no one is happy about it all. All the hype was created to see the World number 4 on the big stage once again, but it turns out this moment was short lived for everyone.

Rybakina also opened up on this sudden decision saying " Unfortunately, I have to withdraw from my match today due to my injuries. I did not want to finish the last Grand Slam of the year this way but I have to listen to my body." This statement makes sense and we could see that she is regretting this decision as well, but it does not change the fact that this has been a terrible end in her US Open campaign and it has been a season where she has been injured for the majority of the tournaments which has upset the fans alot who are suggesting she focuses on her fitness.
