Tennis legend Roger Federer talks about his wife Mirka's presence in the upcoming documentary Federer: Final Twelve Days, which centres on the final 12 days of the legendary Swiss player's tennis career. Notably, the former world number one made his final appearance at the 2022 Laver Cup, in which he played doubles for Team Europe, captained by Bjorn Borg, alongside rival and fellow tennis great Rafael Nadal.

Speaking about the game here, Jack Sock and Frances Tiafoe faced off against Federer and Nadal. Following the same, the Swiss player's career came to an end for the all-American team with a 4-6, 7-6(2), 11-9 victory. However, the next few moments were a rollercoaster of feelings, with Federer crying and Nadal and Mirka joining in with them after the loss. In addition to this, one beautiful moment was captured, as Roger Federer and Mirka were crying almost uncontrollably when they embraced each other, showing their great support for each other.

The 37-year-old legend said that alongside the series, fans will at last get a glimpse of what Mirka went through along with him during his career. They are going to meet the woman who has always remained out of the limelight while offering him unwavering backstage support. Federer expressed his gratitude for Mirka's help, particularly with their family and the demanding schedule of the tennis court.

She worked very hard in the second part of my career with the children: Roger Federer

Reflecting on their journey, Federer shared, "We met at the Sydney Games when I hadn't won a title yet, so she has been with me almost every step of the way. She has helped me a lot during difficult times and she has played a very important role in keeping me motivated. She also taught me what discipline is, because she is incredibly disciplined; I was more the player, the artist, if you will, and I needed guidance in that aspect."

"She worked very hard in the second part of my career with the children, making everything work as we travelled around the circuit. The logistics were crazy, and she has been incredible in this regard. She knows it, and that's why I'm so glad she's in the movie too," he added further.
