Tennis star Jack Draper achieved the greatest victory of his short career by beating world No. 2 Carlos Alcaraz 7-6 (3), 6-3 to advance to the quarterfinals of the Queens Club title in 2024. Notably, the 22-year-old took the lead in the British rankings for the first time. He also extended his winning run to seven matches, slamming Alcaraz's 13-match winning streak on grass in an hour and forty-eight minutes on Centre Court.

Alcaraz, who won Wimbledon and Queen's Club back-to-back last summer, started his grass-court trip in 2023, hoping to extend his winning streak. In his first round, he narrowly defeated Francisco Cerundolo, who was playing at a career-high ranking of No. 31. This week, he faced an energised Draper. The 21-year-old has recently won the French Open 2024, toppling Alexander Zverev in the final game, which took place on June 9 in Paris.

On the other hand, Draper started his grass court career strong, winning the BOSS Open final over former Wimbledon finalist Matteo Berrettini and using that momentum to defeat Mariano Navone in straight sets to begin his Queen's Club campaign.

He's an incredible talent and so amazing for the sport: Jack Draper

Meanwhile, Draper acknowledged that it wasn't easy for him to face the defending champion. The 22-year-old revealed that Carlos won Queen's and Wimbledon last year, and his win at Roland Garros makes him scared ahead of the game. He also lauded British fans for supporting his home player.

"It was a really tough match. I knew coming out here that Carlos is the defending champion here, and obviously won Wimbledon last year. He's an incredible talent and so amazing for the sport. I had to come out and play really well, and luckily I did today. There's no place I'd rather be right now, with my family, my friends, and the British support has been amazing. I want to keep on playing here and I've been desperate to come back!," Jack Draper said on court.
