One of the greatest tennis players of all time, Novak Djokovic advanced to the quarter-finals of Wimbledon 2024 with an impressive win over Holger Rune. The Serbian clinched a 6-3, 6-4, 6-2 victory to mark his 15th appearance in the major Grand Slam event. Djokovic’s quest for the 25th Grand Slam title is well in progress after a clinical display on the grass court.

The Grand Slam tournaments are the four most important annual professional tennis events in the world. Australian Open, French Open and the US Open are the other three Majors. Let's take a look at the players who have reached the most Grand Slam quarterfinals in men's tennis history.

Here are the five players with the most Grand Slam quarterfinal appearances:

5. Roy Emerson - 37

Australian former tennis player Roy Emerson has made 37 appearances in the Grand Slam quarter-finals. Emerson has won a total of 28 Grand Slam titles (all-time record for a male player) - 12 singles titles and 16 doubles titles. Notably, he is the only male player to have completed a career Grand Slam in both singles and doubles.   

4. Jimmy Connors - 41

Former World No. 1 Jimmy Connors has reached the Grand Slam quarterfinals 41 times. The American former professional has won eight major singles titles - a joint Open Era record five US Opens, two Wimbledons and one Australian Open - and three year-end championships. Notably, Connors has made 14 appearances in the Wimbledon quarter-finals.

3. Rafael Nadal - 47

The man with the second-most Grand Slam titles (22), Rafael Nadal has made 47 appearances in the quarter-finals of major tournaments. Nadal's favourite Grand Slam event was the French Open, where he won a record 14 titles. The Spaniard was a leading force in men's tennis alongside Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic. 

2. Roger Federer - 58

Legendary Roger Federer is second on the list with 58 quarter-final appearances. The Swiss former professional topped the charts until Djokovic overtook him at Roland-Garros earlier this year. Notably, Federer has made the most appearances at Wimbledon men's singles quarter-finals – 18. The 42-year-old has won 20 Grand Slam titles during his illustrious career.

1. Novak Djokovic – 60

Novak Djokovic is all set to make his 15th quarter-final appearance at Wimbledon. Moreover, it will be his 60th career Grand Slam quarter-final, the first man in the history of the sport to reach this landmark figure. The Serb reached his 59th Grand Slam quarter at the French Open earlier this year. The 37-year-old also leads the chart for most Grand Slam titles (24).
