Notably, Serbian legend Novak Djokovic has been regarded as one of the best players in this sport, having won 24 Grand Slam titles. However, the 37-year-old legend is going through a difficult phase in his career, having not garnered any ATP title since 2024. He made it to the finals of the Miami Open 2025 but lost to Jakub Mensik. However, his recent loss came against Alejandro Tabilo in the opening round of the Monte Carlo Masters 1000 tournament.

“I was hoping it was not going to happen, but it was quite a high probability I’m going to play this way,” said the Belgrade-born star after that defeat. I don’t know. Just horrible. Horrible feeling to play this way, and just sorry for all the people that have to witness this. I expected myself at least to have put a decent performance. Not like this. It was horrible. I did not have high expectations, really. I knew I’m gonna have a tough opponent and I knew I’m gonna probably play pretty bad. But this bad, I didn’t expect," Novak Djokovic said after losing in the Monte Carlo first round.
