Marin Cilic shares heartwarming farewell message to Martin del Potro

Tennis legends Juan Martin del Potro and Novak Djokovic have recently made their appearance in the 'Last Challenge' exhibition game, as the former bid goodbye to his tennis career. Notably, this match was truly a rollercoaster of a ride for the tennis fans and players, and following the same, Marin Cilic congratulated the Argentinian on his career while praising the Serbian for being a part of this thrilling match.

Del Potro played his last tournament back in 2022, and the Argentina-born star recently faced off against the 37-year-old Novak Djokovic. During the exhibition match, which was played in Buenos Aires, he thwarted the Serbian by 6-4, 7-5 in an emotional outing. Following the same, former US Open winner Marin Cilic took to social media to congratulate del Potro on his career while acknowledging Novak for partaking in the game.

Meanwhile, Novak Djokovic and Juan Martin del Potro faced off 20 times on the main tour; the former has won 16 encounters, including the riveting clash at the 2018 USA Open Final. In a touching display of sportsmanship, Marin Cilic took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to share his emotional message to his former rival Del Potro.

“Dear Juan Martin, So many farewells this year, and while they are bittersweet for us tennis enthusiasts, they are also a celebration of all that you guys have achieved. I’m truly happy that you had the farewell you deserve, at home, alongside Novak Djokovic who showed his own greatness by honoring and celebrating this moment with you," wrote Cilic.

"It’s a testament to the admiration and respect you’ve earned from your peers and fans alike. Congratulations on all your incredible accomplishments, for realizing your dreams, and for inspiring so many with your journey,” the Croatian posted on X.
