Ahead of the Australian Open 2025, Novak was asked to describe Sinner with a word. Novak wasted no time and replied with 'Skiing'. Some sensitive social media users claimed it was disrespectful for Novak Djokovic to use Skiing to describe Jannik. The star player was asked about the same recently and found it ridiculous.

Novak was unhappy that fans on social media made a big issue out of it. He said it was made into some kind of drama or a story as if he humiliated the defending champion. The Serbian claimed he had no intention to show disrespect towards his competitor. He confirmed that the rapid-fire questions needed a quick reply.

'I don’t respect his achievements in tennis' - Novak Djokovic on Jannik Sinner

"Yes, I’ve seen it on social media that it’s being made into some kind of drama or a story like I humiliated him or I’ve intentionally shown disrespect toward him. That’s ridiculous. It was one of those quiz-type of interviews, where you have to think of something in a second," said Novak.

The star player said Skiing came to his mind as he always had Sinner's image of skiing in his head. Djokovic claimed to have seen Jannik skiing somewhere. He concluded by saying that skiing was the first thing that came to his mind and decided to be honest. He said it wasn't to disrespect Jannik's Tennis achievements.

"Sinner’s name came up and I had this image in my head of him skiing, because I saw he was skiing somewhere. Also, the two of us always talk about skiing, and how we’re going to ski together. That’s why I said ’skiing’, not because I don’t respect his achievements in tennis, on the contrary," Novak added.
