The Australian Open tournament start is just a few days away and we already have many interesting stories in the tennis world. But the biggest news out of all of that is that Andy Murray became Novak Djokovic's coach. For the last 25 years, Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray have been the biggest rivals and are part of the Big 4. Last year after the Paris Olympics, Andy Murray announced his retirement from tennis to spend personal time with his family and friends.
In November, another big player and part of the Big 4, Rafael Nadal announced his retirement after the Davis Cup. Only the Serbian is left out of the Biig 4 and is fighting hard to stay competitive with all the youngsters like Carlos Alcaraz, Jannik Sinner, and Daniil Medvedev. Before the start of 2025, the biggest announcement came as Andy Murray said he will coach Novak Djokovic this season. This was a huge one because the two had known each other since 12 and were the biggest rivals.
The former English tennis player will coach the Serbian from the Australian Open. It created a huge buzz in the Media and the internet. This will be Murray's maiden coaching stint and that too for the greatest Tennis player of all time Novak Djokovic. Everyone was stunned by this and Daniil Medvedev is one of those people who was shocked to hear the news. Before the AO tennis tournament, Medvedev met the press and spoke about his preparation for this year.

He was asked questions regarding Murray-Djokovic partnership and he gave a different answer. The Russians compared the new partnership with Football icons Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. They are the best footballers of all time. Daniil said, “We were always kind of hiding things from each other. Now all the cards are open on the table. Imagine if Messi would become the coach of christiano Ronaldo. It would be strange.”
Novak Djokovic is aiming for his 25th Grand Slam title at the Australian Open and is known for venting out his frustration on his coaching box when he struggles during the game. Andy Murray said he is ready to take the impact of frustration from his player. The Serbian said that his former rival knows every weakness and strength in him as he is the best player with a high tennis IQ and is the perfect one to coach him.
