The inaugural edition of the Laver Cup took place in 2017, which was won by Team Europe 15-9. In 2025, Team World won the title against the Team Europe by the same margin under Andre Agassi's leadership. While the Team Europe has won the title five teams, the Team World has won it thrice, as of 2025.

Laver Cup was started in 2017 and was named after Rod Laver, one of the legends of the sport. A couple of years later, ATP started to fund it. TEAM8, Roger Federer's management company, Jorge Paulo Lemann, a Brazilian businessman, and Tennis Australia jointly planned and created the tournament.
