Tennis great Rafael Nadal has announced his retirement from professional tennis after a 23-year-long courageous run in the toughest sport. In these years he won 22 Grand Slams including 14 French Open titles. The recent years have not been kind to Rafa as he suffered multiple injuries which made him play with some compromises. The 38-year-old will play his last tennis match at the Davis Cup finals which will happen in his home country Spain.

There is one guy who gave Rafal Nadal many nightmares and that was the Serbian Legend Novak Djokovic. Both were the biggest rivals during their prime and Novak is the only guy who surpassed Nadal with 24 Grand Slam wins.

The 37-year-old Novak Djokovic is still maintaining fitness and he is the world No 4 Tennis player. He recently played Shanghai Masters Finals against World No. 1 Jannik Sinner and he lost the game. He was also expected to announce retirement from tennis like Nadal.

I don't know about retirement - Djokovic

Novak Djokovic has some other plans before announcing his retirement. When asked about his career plans the Serbian said, “I don't know what the future brings, I’ll just try to kind of go with the flow to see how I feel in a given moment but still plan to compete and play next season.

He also said he doesn't want to rush too much as he achieved everything in tennis and he just wants to see how long can he go before retirement. Novak added “It's not live or die type of goal for me, I think I’ve achieved all of my biggest goals in my career. Right now it's really about slams and about still seeing how far I can kind of push the bar for myself.”

Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer, and Andy Murray were all part of the Big Four and (Nadal, Djokovic, and Federer) were called the Big Three in tennis. Only Djokovic is still playing the game and the rest of everyone is retired.
