This loss came after he suffered defeat against Jack Draper in the semi-finals of the Indian Wells 2025, where he was a two-time defending champion and failed to register a historic three-peat in the game.

Alcaraz had a fine start to the game, showcasing his resilience to win the opening set of the game. However, Goffin staged his comeback after dominating his pace and gaining an advantage over Alcaraz's unforced terror in the game.

The 34-year-old star continued his red-hot form in the third and deciding set, where he hammered outrageous hits that baffled the four-time Grand Slam winner out of the marquee event.

"How are you personally feeling?"

Meanwhile, Alcaraz has recently broken his silence on the loss. The star player stated that he will ponder upon his mistakes and take time to analyze what actually went wrong.

The 21-year-old star player admitted that he is mentally unwell and hurt after losing in the opening round of the tournament where he wants to perform better. The four-time Grand Slam winner acknowledged that he was able to play some good tennis in the past but failed to dominate in Miami.

"I don't yet know how the next few days will be for me; there will be time to analyze what happened and also to forget it. I know this part of the season very well, I've played great tennis in the past at this tournament, but after what happened today, I'm not sure what to say. Mentally, I'm disappointed, honestly; this is a tournament where I want to do well, and losing in the first round hurts a lot," Carlos Alcaraz said in the Miami Open 2025 press conference.
