'I think she has the best footwork that I've seen...'- Andy Roddick compares Iga Swiatek to Rafael Nadal

The game of Tennis has given us some great athletes who have gone on to become certified legends in the game. Though the ATP has been one of the most popular for generations, we cannot ignore the players in the WTA scene. Women's tennis has come a long way and has given us some great players who have gone on to achieve many wonderful things even today.

The player that has been leading the women's tennis right now is Iga Swiatek. The Polish is still leading the WTA rankings and has already achieved a lot in the game. Swiatek at the early age of 22 has already gone on to win 4 grand slams and has held the number 1 WTA-ranked player for almost 100 weeks. This WTA tour has also proven to be one of her best seasons where she has won two back-to-back WTA 1000 titles.

Roddick compares Swiatek to Nadal

With some great and consistent performances, there is no doubt that Swiatek will be compared to great players going forward. One of the major comparisons was made by former world number 1 and US Open winner Andy Roddick. The former athlete went on to compare the Polish to Rafael Nadal saying " I think she has the best footwork that I've seen on men’s and women’s side, this side of Rafa. It's just phenomenal and Iga just has to be able to switch directions.” This was said by Roddick in an interview with Tennis Channel recently.

Though it is still early for Iga to be compared with anyone right now as she still has a lot of time left in her career, there is no doubt that she has the ability to achieve what players like Nadal have achieved throughout their careers. This statement by Roddick shows how impressive Swiatek has been as she is being compared to one of the greats early into her career.
