It is a big turning point for the sporting world especially in tennis, where we do not have to think about the upcoming Wimbledon but the 2024 Paris Olympics. These will be the two tournaments where there will be a lot of top players on the card and we will be looking forward to seeing who will be the players to play in these major tournaments.

The Great Britain team has already been decided and it still has some talented players who have the potential to win a medal with the likes of Andy Murray, Jack Draper, and Katie Boulter in the ranks. However, it is surprising to see that the Olympic team will not be featuring Emma Raducanu who has refused her wild card for the Olympics. This was a shocking decision taken by the 21-year-old former US Open champion, who has also found some form in the last few tournaments.

Raducanu gives her reasons for refusal

This decision by the talented youngster really caught us off guard, but Raducanu had finally given her reasons behind this decision saying "Just prioritizing my body and my health because I know if I’m fit, I know if I’m giving 100%, I know great things are happening and coming.” This statement was clear from the former top-10-ranked player and she might be hoping for a comeback in the next few tournaments going forward.

There might be some fans who would not agree with this statement, but we also have to understand that it has not been an easy couple of years for Raducanu at all as she has already gone through a period where she has been recovering from injury. It is her decision and we hope that after this withdrawal she can get back to her complete best and once again get back into form this season. She is not a top-ranked player anymore and it has been 3 years since she won a major tournament and this will be a time when she has to try to make a comeback.
