There have been plenty of tennis players who have recently just retired from the game completely and have finally said goodbye to the game of tennis. players such as Andy Murray have finally ended their career after the Paris Olympics. However there are still some legendary figures who are also coming close to the end of their career, but are very much part of the ATP/WTA scene even today.

The player that we will be talking about is none other than the King Of Clay himself Rafael Nadal. The Spanish legend is no doubt one of the iconic figures in the game but has not really had the best of comebacks this season where he has failed to win any titles. Nadal featured in the Paris Olympics but unfotunately did not have the best of days where we saw him get eliminated in round 2 of the singles event and lose the quarter finals in doubles. Nadal has even withdrawn from the US Open this season which is already getting people to believe that he might be close to retiring.

Roddick gives his insights

The Nadal retirement has really become a topic for debate for everyone and though he has said that he might try to play one more season looking at his fitness and his game it looks highly unlikely. Former world number one and US Open 2003 winner Andy Roddick has also given his views on his podcast saying " The Laver Cup could be a celebration. We’re all better when he’s around. Hopefully we’ll see him in the big finals again. I don’t know. It feels like this could be the end." These words from Roddick make quite a lot of sense and right now it seems like it will be going down that route.

Roddick has even gone further to discuss the possibility of him playing one more season of Roland Garros where he has once again clearly stated " We don’t know what he’ll do, we’re not in his inner circle, but I find it hard to believe that he’ll put in the effort and try to give Roland Garros another chance. But I’ve been wrong about him in the past and any analyst who has an opinion is just guessing.” it is safe to say that Roddick has made a clear analysis of this topic, but he has also brought up the fact that Nadal can be full of surprises as well and we all just have to wait and see what he has planned further.
