Some big legends were most likely playing for the last time in the Paris Olympics 2024. There is no doubt we were happy to see Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray in this event, but the player we all are backing right now is Rafael Nadal. The King of Clay was featured in what will most likely be his last Olympics. Though he is not in the form of his life, he is still an iconic figure in the game who has given us some memorable moments throughout his career.

Unfortunately for the fans, we will no longer see Nadal in the men's singles as he has lost his 2nd round match to his longstanding rival Novak Djokovic in straight sets. The King of Clay might have ended his tenure in the singles, but that is still not the end of El Nino as he will still be playing in the doubles along with World number 3 Carlos Alcaraz in hopes of winning another medal. However, it was still disappointing to see the King of Clay lose this encounter which has led to retirement rumours coming to life in the tournament.

Nadal is annoyed by the Media

The barrage of questions started straight away just after the loss to Djokernole, with reporters asking about the future of the 22-time Grand Slam winner. Rafael Nadal who is normally calm and collected during his interactions with the media, seemed slightly irritated by the questions about his retirement saying " You want me to retire every day guys, you ask me for that, I am trying to do my best. I cannot live every single day with the feeling that it’s going to be or not going to be my last match."

There is no doubt this was a shocking reaction from the Spaniard, but we cannot completely disagree with him on the statement at all. After all, Nadal has given everything to this game not only for the sports but for his country as well. Like every other sportsman, it is always hard to leave a sport which you have been loving and playing for a long time. We know that Nadal has not had the best of seasons after his comeback from injury, but we all are sure that he will know the moment he has to completely let go of the game.
