The star player began his tournament after defeating Zizou Bergs in his opening-round clash. He was set to face Carlos Alcaraz before the Spaniard pulled out amid injury concerns. He defeated another lucky loser, Kamil Majchrzak, in the Round of 64. Thereafter, he registered wins over top ATP players Cameron Norrie and Grigor Dimitrov to storm into the quarter-finals.

However, he took the second set into the tiebreaker and won it to level the game against Grigor Dimitrov. He carried his form in the third and decider and knocked out the Bulgarian star from the tournament.
Diallo is now set to face ATP star Lorenzo Musetti in the last eight rounds, with two players aiming to seal a semi-final berth. The Italian star has defeated Aussie star Alex de Minaur to storm into the quarters.
“I thought I was going home. He played a good tiebreak. The margins were so thin. We were both serving really well. This might be the best serving performance I’ve displayed in my life. I’ve been told the conditions here would suit me really well. I don’t want to put crazy expectations or even barriers. I had never made it past the 2nd round," said Diallo after the win.
