How 2014 US Open is similar to 2024 US Open; Will history repeat itself after 10 years?

The Grand Slam is currently in its playoff and we have enjoyed some of the most exciting moments that took place in this Grand Slam event. The US Open 2024 has been a tournament full of drama and excitement whioch all of us have enjoyed a lot this season. This has showed us why we all enjoy witnessing the Grand Slam tournaments which are filled with one of the biggest stars in the World of tennis.

This tournament has been interesting in many ways. In fact only Jannik Sinner is the player among the top three who is alive in the tournament. In fact this has been a tournament where we have seen some of the most shocking eliminations this season and there have been some out of form players who have suddenly found some form this season.

The chances of events of 2014 US Open repeating itself

The last time a player in the Mens singles outside the top 10 won the US Open wasb back in 2014 where we saw Marin Cilic lift the trophy in the tournament which had the likes of Novak Djokovic Roger Fedrerer and an in form Stan Wawrinka as the top seeded and high ranked players who were favorites to win. This was a tournament full of surprises that we did not expect at all. In fact this tournament could take the similar route as well since we have already seen top ranked players like Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic exit the tournament in the early rounds.

Though we still have World number one Jannik Sinner in the mix, to see players like Frances Tiafoe and Taylor Fritz make the playoffs as well, there is a high chance that the 2014 season can come to life once again. This will really be a historical triumph if one of these two players can win this major title and surprise us like Cilic did a decade ago in the competition. This is all the reason to say that tennis is one of the most unpredictable sports in the World right now where anybody can come on top and surprise us.
