Former tennis player Andy Roddick has issued an advisory message for world number one Jannik Sinner ahead of his campaign at the 2025 French Open, which is slated to take place on May 25th in Paris. The Italian stalwart will be playing his third tournament of the year due to a doping ban suspension.

Advertisment

Sinner had a stellar start to the year as he won the Australian Open 2025 after defeating Alexander Zverev in straight sets. He was lucky not to face Carlos Alcaraz or Novak Djokovic in the first Grand Slam of the year. Thereafter, he pulled out from the ABN AMRO Open for fatigue reasons when he was the defending champion. Following that, he accepted his three-month doping ban.

Jannik Sinner to face hostile crowd in French Open 2025

The world number one then marked his comeback in the Italian Open 2025, where he made it to the final showdown but faltered against Carlos Alcaraz ahead of the Roland Garros. However, the former tennis player feels that the 23-year-old tennis star should be ready for a different reception in the French Open 2025.

The 42-year-old tennis legend stated that Jannik Sinner has to prepare himself to face a hostile crowd at the French Open, unlike the Italian Open crowd, as he has two Frenchmen in his draws in the early rounds.

"I’m just telling you as nice as the reception was for Sinner when he had kind of that soft landing in Rome, where he was getting standing ovations from the press when he speaks to the media. It’s like two Frenchmen straight out of the gate; that’s a guarantee. And then Arthur Fils, he is going to hear it from the French crowd in Paris for the first week of this year’s French Open," Roddick said.
