The second Grand Slam of the Tennis season is less than a week away, as the tournament is set to take place from Sunday, May 25. While the classic red clay of Roland Garros seems to dazzle the fans in Paris, the forthcoming tournament might offer a different feel this time for the fans.

Advertisment

Notably, 14-time Grand Slam winner Rafael Nadal will not be competing this time, and his absence will certainly be felt after he retires in 2024. However, the fans are expecting Serbian ace Novak Djokovic to put on a better show this time.

Tennis star Carlos Alcaraz is the defending champion, while Jannik Sinner won the Australian Open in 2025. The duo are the top contenders to win the title here. However, Indian Wells 2025 champion Jack Draper, Qatar Open 2025 champion Andrey Rublev, Miami Open champion Jakub Mensik, Madrid Open champion Casper Ruud, and Barcelona Open champion Holger Rune might stun the world to win their first Grand Slam here. Other players like Taylor Fritz, Tommy Paul, Alexander Zverev, Ben Shelton, and Lorenzo Musetti are also in red-hot form.

Among the WTA, Iga Swiatek aims to defend her title here despite her flop show in recent clay court tournaments. World number one Aryna Sabalenka and star player Coco Gauff emerge as top contenders to win. However, Madison Keys, Mirra Andreeva, Jasmine Paolini, Jelena Ostapenko, Elena Rybakina, and Jessica Pegula might shock the tennis fraternity to win the title here.
