Notably, the Kazakh star went on to hire Goran Ivanisevic in what seemed to be the start of the end of her dependence on her former coach, Vukov. However, everything seems to be falling apart as Rybakina parted ways with Ivanisevic after an early exit in the Australian Open 2025. Speaking about the same subject, the Croatian coach talks about how he experienced his stint with Rybakina.
The 53-year-old legend admitted that this abrupt end of their stint with the Kazakhstani was extremely strange and sad for him. The 2001 Wimbledon champion had worked with Rybakina for just a few months before they decided to split due to controversy surrounding Rybakina and her banned former coach,Stefano Vukov. Despite Goran being a coach, Rybkaina still had Vukov in her team, which led to concerns and misleading.
"It was a bit strange. Unfortunately, some things happened off the court that I couldn't control and I didn't want to be a part of that and part of that story and then I decided that it was best to quit. I wish her all the best in her career. I consider her, even before I became her coach, at least for me, to be the best tennis player in the world," Goran Ivanisevic told former footballer Slaven Bilic about his abrupt split with Rybakina.
