The Geneva Open playoffs are coming close as the last 16 players are currently battling for a spot in the playoffs. This is one of the most hyped ATP 250 tournaments which features some of the top players in the game. There has already been a great response to this tournament and is a chance for some players to get some games ahead of the ATP Clay season finale in Paris.

One of the high-seeded players and favourites to win the tournament was Taylor Fritz, who is currently the number-one ranked American player right now. The talented 26-year-old was up against 19-year-old unseeded compatriot Alex Michelsen who turned professional 2 years ago. Though Michelsen has had some great performances in the juniors, there was no doubt Fritz with his current form and being the third-seeded player was the favourite to win this contest.

Fritz faces shocking defeat

This was a game all of us thought belonged to Taylor Fritz especially when he was up against a young and inexperienced American player. Michelsen gave him an early surprise as he went on to break Fritze's service and win the first set by the score of 6-4. The next set was important for Fritz to get back into the game and he eventually won the second set. This was one of the unexpected games that went down to the final set. The last set turned out to be slightly intense and in the most shocking turn of events it was the Young Michelsen who got the victory winning the final set by a score of 7-5.

This was one of the major upsets in the tournaments that we have ever seen. Taylor Fritz was not only the high-ranked player but was in great form in this ATP tour, where he had won the Delray Beach Open and made it to multiple playoffs. However, it looked like he got one of his biggest surprises this season which he will want to forget going into the Roland Garros which is coming up.
