'Father Time will catch up to him...'- Martina Navratilova gives a vedict on Novak Djokovic's future

There have been a lot of great legends in the game of tennis who we have enjoyed watching throughout the years, but the man who has more or less established himself as the greatest of all time is Novak Djokovic. The Serbian has been one of the iconic players even today and is still one of the dominating figures in the game even at the age of 37. Though this has not really been one of his most iconic seasons in the game, We still finally saw him complete the Gold Slam after winning a Gold medal in the Olympics.

There is no doubt that Novak Djokovic has a legacy which is almost untouched with 24 Grand Slam titles and a Olympic Gold he has done everything to be considered one of the greats. However his early elimination in the US Open and other inflicting personal issues have already started the retirement rumours for the Serbian legend. There have already been some ex players who have given their views on the matter as well.

Navratilova gives her verdict

The US Open exit was perhaps one of most undewrwhelming performances we saw from Djokovic during this season where he lost in the third round to World number 28 Alexei Popyrin in the third round. This was perhaps one of the most surprising defeats of the Grand Slam event. The only player who was not surprised with this result was former legend Martina Navratilova who also gave her views on the topic as well. In fact the 18-time Grand Slam winner went on to give a huge verdict on the future of Djokovic as well.

Martina Navratilova made it clea in another interview talking about the retirement of Djokovic saying " Father Time will catch up to him and maybe it already is a little bit, because he really wasn’t himself in that last match.These words were enough to suggest that Navaritilova thinks that it is time for Djokovic to finally hang up his racket where she also ends her statement saying " It’s up to him. Either way, you can’t criticise because what a fantastic career. I would probably hang it up but if he loves, it why not?”. With this it seems clear to us that Navratilova thinks Djokovic does not have anything else left to achieve and should finally end his professional career.
