The final Grand Slam event of the year - US Open 2024 - concluded with Jannik Sinner and Aryna Sabalenka winning the men's and women's singles titles, respectively. The riveting hard-court tournament provided many intense moments for fans throughout the competition.
While Sinner clinched his second Grand Slam title - both this year, Sabalenka won her third Majors. Many top players, including these two, have moved up their ATP and WTA rankings following strong performances at the US Open.
US Open men’s runner-up Taylor Fritz and women’s semi-finalist Emma Navarro were the top achievers in terms of career rankings after the tournament. Local boy and former World No. 5 Fritz is back in the top 10 in the ATP rankings at No. 7.
On the other hand, his compatriot Navarro, who lost to champion Sabalenka 6-3, 7-6 (2), climbed to a career-best No. 8. Women's runner-up Jessica Pegula rose to No. 3 after a remarkable run until falling to the Belarusian.
Sabalenka cemented her No. 2 spot with Iga Swiatek, who lost to Pegula in the quarterfinals and continues to be at the top of the WTA rankings. Men’s champion Sinner nearly doubled his lead as the World No. 1 after defeating Fritz 6-3, 6-4, 7-5.

Last year’s US Open winners see drops in rankings
It is noteworthy that last year’s US Open winners both dropped their rankings after failing to reach the business end of the tournament. Coco Gauff slipped to No. 6 from the third position after being eliminated in the fourth round by Navarro. Meanwhile, Paris Olympics gold medallist Novak Djokovic went from No. 2 to No. 4 after suffering a third-round exit at the hands of Alexei Popyrin.
