There are over 100 players who make it to the major tournaments in tennis. There are players like Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer who stay at the top for as long as possible with some players who will drop in terms of performances. There have been a lot of talented tennis players who have gone down this road which has made their chances of a comeback tougher each season.

One of the players who has gone down this road is former top-ranked Austrian player Dominic Thiem. Thiem was one of the major talents in the world of tennis. The 30-year-old was known to be one of the gifted players with a powerful forehand and incredible single-handed backhand strokes. After being a finalist in three grand slam tournaments, Thiem finally tasted success in the 2020 US Open where he beat Alexander Zverev in the final game achieving his first grand slam title. Thiem has won 17 Career titles in his career and was one of the best players from 2018 to 2020.

Thiem wins his first ATP game in Estoril Open

Dominic Thiem, in the last four years, has not had the best seasons, where he has suddenly gone from a 3rd ranked player to a 90-ranked player. However, after a string of defeats, Thiem finally went back to his winning ways by defeating Maximilian Marterer in the first round. This might not be the easiest game, but it was still great to see Thiem finally get back to winning ways. Thiem will now face the former top 10 ranked ATP player Richard Gasquet in the second round.

Dominic Thiem will be looking to make a solid comeback in this ATP tournament. He will want to be back in business after a few years of injury and poor form. This victory will mean a lot to the talented Austrian who has victories against legends such as Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic
