Chris Evert on Djokovic’s Grand Slam Triumphs (X)
Former American tennis star Chris Evert has cast doubt on star player Novak Djokovic's chance of winning his 25th Grand Slam title of his career while also claiming that one should never underestimate him, as he is a big match player who rises to the right occasion. The Serbian ace's recent Grand Slam win came when he lifted the US Open 2023. He made it to the finals of Wimbledon 2024 but lost against the eventual winner Carlos Alcaraz in the summit clash.
Novak Djokovic gears up for Geneva Open 2025
Djokovic is set to turn 38 on May 22 and will be looking for another Grand Slam title in his tally when he will be looking to win the French Open 2025, starting from the last week of May. He is set to make his appearance in the ATP 250 tournament Geneva Open, after pulling out from the Italian Open 2025. He was last seen in action in the Mutua Madrid Open 2025, where he crashed out of the tournament after losing against Matteo Arnaldi in the first-round clash.
The 18-time Grand Slam winner said that she would never underestimate Djokovic, but at the same time, she would be shocked to see the Serbian ace winning Grand Slam titles anymore. However, the former world number one says that Djokovic cannot win the French Open 2025 but possesses Wimbledon-winning chances to mark his 25th Grand Slam glory.
“I would never underestimate him, but I would be surprised if he won another major, let’s put it that way. I mean, you’ve got to give the guy credit. This guy’s won everything, more than anybody. I would never say he’s not going to win, but I would be surprised. I’ve seen him play brilliantly on grass, and he’s won Wimbledon so many times, that’s why I can’t say, ‘no, he’s not gonna win another one.’ I don’t think it’s gonna be the French Open… but you can never count him out,” Chris Evert said.
