The Monte Carlo Masters has already started in one of the most surprising events. Not only have we seen the exit of some great and talented players, but also some surprising wins from the underdogs. This is what the clay season has been all about, where some players struggle to find their form and some fail to get past the earlier rounds. With these major surprises, we are surely up for one of the most exciting ATP tournaments ever witnessed by anyone.

This tournament will also be the start of the top 4 on clay as well. One of the players who has been dominating this surface currently is Carlos Alcaraz. The 20-year-old Spanish world number 3 has already got 2 grand slams and 13 single titles to his name early in his career. He was said to be the one to take over the tennis world after Novak Djokovic. His ability to cover the whole court makes him one of the most dynamic players in the game right now.

Alcaraz's surprise withdrawal from Monte Carlo

This is one of the most surprising news that came to light recently. Alcaraz was one of the favourites to win this tournament seeing his past performances on clay. Alcaraz has recently withdrawn from the tournament which would have marked the start of the clay season for him. Alcaraz was set to play against Félix Auger-Aliassime in the 3rd round of the tournament. Unfortunately, the match had to be cancelled due to an injury stating “ I have been working in Monte-Carlo and trying to recover until the last minute from an injured pronator teres in my right arm, but it was not possible and I cannot play!”. The Spaniard also went ahead and said that he would be seeing them next year as well.

This is really one of the most unfortunate news we have heard of one of the upcoming superstars of the game. It is sad enough to see him miss out on the clay season, but it is even tough to know that he will miss the entire season. We hope the best for Alcaraz and wish he comes back next season and continues to dominate every player that he has been doing throughout his career. There are still a lot of years of tennis left in him and we would like to see him come back stronger.
