Tennis pundit Chris Evert didn't mince her words while discussing Serbian legend Novak Djokovic's chances to win the French Open 2025. The former tennis star feels that age has been a factor for the 24-time Grand Slam winner, which could prevent him from winning his fourth title in French Open history.
The star player hasn't won the Grand Slam titles since 2024, and their performance has been a mixed bag. The star player did make it to the semi-finals of the Australian Open 2025 but suffered a first-round exit in the Qatar Open and Indian Wells.
Thereafter, he made it to the Miami Open 2025 finals but lost against Jakub Mensik. The 24-time Grand Slam winner then crashed out in the opening round in the Monte Carlo Masters and Mutua Madrid Open before pulling out from the Italian Open 2025. The star player has finally achieved a win at the Geneva Open 2025, where he won his 100th ATP title ahead of the second Grand Slam of the year.
Why can't Novak Djokovic win the French Open 2025?
Despite winning 24 major titles and 100 ATP titles in his career, the 70-year-old legendary player feels that Novak Djokovic won't be able to win his 25th major of his career. She has stated that the tennis player has already made it to the early 40s, and it's hard for a player to maintain such a form to win Grand Slam glory.
"The way he’s playing right now, he’s not gonna win. So he would have to play spectacular tennis like every single match. And I mean, I could see him definitely getting to the second week. I could see getting to a semi, but I don’t know him. I don’t know, after watching him the last few weeks, I don’t see him winning this title. I don’t see … you know… I think this week will tell a lot," Chris Evert said (via Tennis365).
