Australian tennis star Nick Kyrgios has been in the spotlight recently, especially following Jannik Sinner's successful title defence at the Australian Open. Since then, he has received banter from fans and commentators alike.
Nick Kyrgios takes a dig at Sinner's doping controversy
One standout piece of banter came from the popular tennis page Swish Court, which shared a meme highlighting Kyrgios' win record in 2025, humorously comparing it to 'Bye's' performance.
Kyrgios, known for his quick wit, responded adeptly, pointing out that 'Bye' has had fewer failed drug tests than current world number one Jannik Sinner.

Sinner failed two drug tests in March 2024 due to the detection of the banned steroid clostebol in his system. The Italian tennis star asserted his innocence, stating that the substance entered his body as a result of a massage from his physiotherapist, who applied a clostebol-infused spray to his fingers for a wound treatment.
The ITIA allowed Jannik Sinner to continue participating in tournaments following his appeal. However, the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) appealed the ITIA's decision to clear Sinner, prompting the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) to schedule a hearing regarding the doping allegations for April 16 and 17.
Kyrgios's disappointing start to the season
After overcoming a wrist injury, Kyrgios embarked on his highly anticipated return to professional tennis in the 2025 season. Competing at the Brisbane International, the Aussie star showed he was back to business, competing in an exciting three-set match against young Frenchman Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard. While the result was not in his favour, Kyrgios did get important game time.
Nick Kyrgios joined forces with Novak Djokovic to compete in doubles at the event. Unfortunately, the star duo faced elimination in the second round. At his home Slam, Kyrgios encountered a rather difficult matchup against rising British star Jacob Fearnley, resulting in a first-round exit. In doubles, Kyrgios and his partner Thanasi Kokkinakis displayed great spirit; however, they ultimately decided to retire from their first-round match.
Kyrgios's comeback on the tour has once again hit a roadblock due to injuries. He was eager to participate in his first Davis Cup tie in six years, where Australia was set to compete against Sweden. Unfortunately, a recent abdominal injury has led him to withdraw from this event. The Australian has to wait longer to register for another appearance for his national team.
